St. Daniel Comboni Hospital Kyamuhunga Laboratory is divided into reception/phlebotomy & results dispatch area, Blood Transfusion, Clinical chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology/Parasitology, Endocrinology, Serology, and Immunology diagnostic testing services. The laboratory operates 24 hours, seven days a week.
Where the laboratory is not in position to carry out tests, the samples are sent to reference laboratories. Additional services are available for research & development, training & educational purposes. All services are available to physicians, clinicians for the benefit of the patient and the community or population. The services provided conform to the ISO 15189:2012 requirements .

Laboratory Management has outlined the Quality Policy for the laboratory as stated below. The purpose of the quality policy is to set down information for staff and users, the course of action and measures that CHKL implements in order to provide services of the highest quality.

St. Daniel Comboni Hospital Kyamuhunga Laboratory management is committed to providing holistic quality, accurate, reliable and timely diagnostic medical laboratory services that comply with the ISO 15189:2012 and other established International, National & professional regulations.
The laboratory offers services in the disciplines of Haematology, Clinical chemistry, Immunology, Serology, Microbiology ,Endocrinology and Blood transfusion services using verified and validated methods fit for the intended use. The laboratory is committed to and ensures good professional laboratory practice and conduct while offering services to its clients.

After passing several internal and external audits/assessments (CHKL, CPHL and ASLM audits), the laboratory was selected among the laboratories to be internationally accredited by SANAS (South African National Accreditation System).
The activity taking place in the picture below was exclusive international accreditation mentorships facilitated by CPHL, MOH specialists, Implementing partners and hospital management. The entire laboratory staff was mentored to fulfill the ISO 15189:2012 requirements
